Payroll Specialist

 

Position Responsibilities:

§  Process a timely and accurate semi-monthly payroll for approximately 200 employees which includes, but is not limited to inputting or revising employee personal information, deductions, benefit changes, compensation, etc. 

§  Review trial payroll/standard reports and resolve any mistakes or misinformation before transmittal and review final payroll information before beginning new payroll cycle. 

§  Manage time and attendance program which includes but is not limited to entering new hires, enter missing hours, holidays or paid time off information, creating workgroups, updating employee/supervisor selections, etc.

§  Manage the time accrual system and reconcile amounts on a quarterly basis.

§  Run and create reports on payroll and time and attendance as requested by managers or as needed for payroll transmission. 

§  Serve as point of contact for Ceridian, the third party payroll company, employees and supervisors helping to resolve issues and providing technical support.

§  Prepare journal entries associated with the monthly payroll and enter into accounting system; monitor payroll accruals.

§  Analyze and reconcile wage related general ledger accounts (salaries, deductions, taxes, benefits, etc).

§  Prepare and update personnel spreadsheets.

§  Update and reconcile benefits and personnel allocation with other members of the finance department.

§  Assist with audits and budgeting processes.

§  Other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

§  Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Business; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 2-4 years of related work experience preferred.

§  Knowledge of accounting and payroll concepts, practices and procedures.

§  Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and experience with accounting & payroll software.  Previous experience with Fund EZ and Ceridian payroll programs is a plus.

§  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

§  Demonstrates the following qualities:  self-motivated, self-directed, follows directions, makes good judgments, reliable and dependable.

§  Candidate must possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, have excellent organizational skills and be highly detailed oriented, have high standards of accuracy, possess excellent customer service skills and have a direct communication style.

§  Flexibility with work schedule as position may require some evening hours.

§  Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens, including a credit check and upon offer of employment must provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. and provide 3 signed letters of recommendation.
