Deloitte Volunteers Visit for IMPACT Day
June 20, 2014 | Chicago, IL
Friday, June 6th marked Deloitte’s 15th annual IMPACT Day, a nationwide day of service featuring more than 800 volunteer events across the country. According to Deloitte, IMPACT Day is a celebration of their year-round commitment to driving positive change in communities. More than 30 Deloitte employees met at Erie House’s Little Village site on Friday morning to provide much needed services.
This was the financial planning group’s third year working with Erie House in Little Village. The 30+ volunteers focused on family reading, English as a Second Language (ESL) conversation, composition, accounting, and tech training with program participants. On top of their direct support, the Deloitte volunteers also provided some handiwork including painting, decorating, and renovation.
“Deloitte IMPACT Day is unique in that they invest in both program and infrastructure,” says Assistant Director of Adult Programs, Sandy DeLeón. “In addition to donating books and renovating our library, they actually take the time to meet and get to know our students and families face to face.”
Although IMPACT Day is unique to Deloitte, Erie House offers plenty of volunteer opportunities.
