LATINO COMMUNITY THANKS CONGRESSMEN LUIS GUTIERREZ AND PAUL RYAN FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP ON IMMIGRATION REFORM
Bipartisan leadership brings hope to our communites
WHAT: Over 200 people from Illinois’s Latino faith, civic, business and community leading organizations will thank Congressmen Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Paul Ryan (R-WI) for their bipartisan leadership to build common sense solutions to our broken immigration system.
Congressmen Gutierrez and Ryan may come from different states, political parties, and points of view on many issues, but they are working together to make sure the House of Representatives moves forward towards reform to strengthen the American economy, and live up to our values as a nation of immigrants, and a nation that honors families.
As the demographic and economic landscapes have shifted, Erie Neighborhood House has served as a stalwart in the immigrant community. Beginning with the Ukrainian diaspora at the turn of the 20th century to today's vibrant Mexican community, Erie's commitment to service to the immigrant community has never wavered. Erie House will welcome both Congressmen as they champion hope for the immigrant community.
Erie Neighborhood House and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) are deeply committed to keeping families together and believe that the family is the sacred unit of our society. We work and advocate for immigration reform that unites families and creates a path to citizenship for the many unauthorized immigrants within our families and communities. The Congressmen’s bipartisan work will bring hope to our families, communities, and the 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country that will no longer have to live in fear.
ICIRR, along with our national partner, the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM), will continue to organize and lift up the voices of families impacted by our unjust immigration laws until an inclusive bill is put forward.
