“I have learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of doing thanks to the Erie House community."
After becoming involved with Erie nine years ago as a student and part-time clerk, ESL Assistant Coordinator Jose Frausto is a living, breathing example of what the programs and community can do for those who may be unsure of their future.
It’s a great organization and a welcoming space for everyone—not just immigrants like myself. I am grateful to Erie because it has made me the person that I am today. And although I had a tough life, I was encouraged to try new programs and do new things, allowing me to find a different perspective of myself. Now I’m able to help older people find out what they can do, their strengths and their options in life. I help them realize that—if they work hard—they can do many things they never thought they could.”
