Child Care Town Hall Meeting
March 5, 2012 | Chicago, IL
The Erie House Town Hall Meeting was a huge success and it is our belief that the elected and city officials understood our message. This event would not have been possible without the complete effort by everyone at Erie and our local community. Thank you to all the parents and staff who attended and had your voices heard, on behalf of children. The Parent Council organized this event, but we deeply appreciate all who volunteered their time to make an event like this possible. The Health Programs Department and the Town Hall Team cannot thank everyone enough for “pitching-in”.
This meeting was just the first phase of our advocacy effort to tell the folks in Springfield that we are not going to allow them to slash funding in the Child Care Programs budget. As we demonstrated on February 24th, the Child Care Assistance Program is vital to keeping our families working. The next phase of our “Town Hall Tactics” advocacy effort is a phone calling campaign on Wednesday, March 14th. The Erie Parent Council will be coordinating the event and will communicate our plan to you.
Again, thank you to everyone that gave their time or attended the meeting (or both). We had over 200 people in attendance, so with this momentum let’s show our support for the importance of children and working families.
