Erie House to Host Back-to-School Wellness Fair in Little Village
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 21, 2017 | Chicago, IL
Erie Neighborhood House will host its annual community wellness fair on Saturday, August 26, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at 4225 W 25th St in Chicago’s South Lawndale/Little Village neighborhood.
Admission is free, and more than a dozen community partners will be on hand to distribute information and resources to local residents.
Event organizers moved this year’s fair to August from its typical date in June in order to capitalize on the back-to-school frenzy many families feel near the end of summer.

“We believe it is important for families to have access to the tools necessary to live well, particularly as they prepare to enter a new school year,” says Erie House executive director Kirstin Chernawsky. “Having that access can make a big difference.”
"Establishing positive, healthy routines help influence our choices about what we eat, how we spend our money, and what we do with our free time."

It’s also a good time to hit the reset button on habits—from dietary choices to financial decisions to exercise—that might have slipped during the summer months.
“Establishing positive, healthy routines help influence our choices about what we eat, how we spend our money, and what we do with our free time,” explains Chernawsky. “If those routines aren’t already in place, now is a great time to get started.”
Chernawsky celebrates that the wellness fair is now in its fifth year. “We’re proud of the work our team in Little Village has done to promote a holistic approach toward health,” she says. “Events like these and the programming we offer throughout the year are intended to help families on their wellness journeys.”
A variety of activities will be available for the whole family, including face painting, arts and crafts and basketball. Attendees will also be entered in a free raffle to win prizes courtesy of event sponsors, and backpacks with school supplies will be distributed to students while supplies last.
